About IAHV

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) was established in Jordan in 2012 as a branch for International Association of Human Values. IAHV Jordan has since then worked to achieve the IAHV Mother Association goals in Middle East and North Africa.

Our Work

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) offers programs to reduce stress and develop leaders so that human values can flourish in people and communities. Our programs enhance clarity of mind, shift attitudes and behaviors, and develop leaders and communities that are resilient, responsible, and inspired.

Our Mission

IAHV addresses immediate and long-term needs with a volunteer-based sustainable approach. We foster the daily practice of human values - a sense of connectedness and respect for all people and the natural environment, an attitude of non-violence, and an ethic of social service.

Our Values

  • All human beings are equal.
  • Responsibility and an attitude of selfless service are the foundation of true empowerment.
  • Peace, happiness and compassion are the intrinsic nature of human beings.
  • Socio-economic development must be built on human values to be sustainable.
  • Incorporation of human values into all aspects of life will ultimately lead to a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

Our Story

The International Association for Human Values was created in Geneva in 1997 by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as a global platform for humanitarian initiatives that solve problems by uplifting human values.

Through its country organizations and partners, IAHV conducts service projects and raises funds for humanitarian and disaster relief initiatives throughout the world. IAHV is headquarters in Geneva and has registered branches in over 30 countries, including France, Germany, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Russia, Slovenia, USA, Canada, South Africa, Kenya, India, United Arab Emirates, Australia, St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic.

Peacebuilding Project in Jordan

“Healing, Resilience, and Non-Violent Empowerment of Children impacted by Armed Conflict in Jordan Lebanon”

|ON-GOING|

This 18 month-long project, co-funded by the European Union, began in December 2016. The project aims to enhance the well-being, resilience and psychological reintegration of 8,000 children impacted by armed conflict and to reduce their violent behavior risk; improve the well-being, resilience and performance capacity of 250 frontline workers and teachers; and improve the levels of trauma, PTS, depression, and anxiety as well as the wellbeing, resilience and attitudes of 1250 parents, family members and community members in Zaatari Refugee Camp, EJC, Azzraq Camp, Mafraq, Zarqa, Irbid, Karak and East Amman with the following partners: Save the Children, Madrasati, IRD, ICCS, Insani, Jordanian Association for Juvenile & Child Care, SOS Children’s Village, and the Ministry of Culture.

We intend to target a maximum of 70% Syrian refugees residing within camps and host communities, and a minimum of 30% Jordanians residing within the host communities, directly or indirectly affected by the ongoing armed conflict in Syria. The project addresses the crucial psychosocial push factors and consequences among children in Jordan through a comprehensive, innovative, and sustainable psychosocial approach and provides trauma-relief, healing, and empowerment to restore their overall physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Project Programs:

Stress Relief and Resilience Workshops:

A low threshold workshop to address psycho-social consequences of conflict and violence, releasing acute and basic stress and fears, improving sleep and providing relief.

Trauma-Relief, Healing, Resilience and Human Values Trainings:

A more profound training to address both psycho-social consequences and push factors of conflict, violence and extremism, providing deeper trauma-relief and healing, strengthened resilience, improved learning capacity, strengthened connectedness, human values, positive self- esteem and outlook. Providing more profound transformation, THRH targets at risk and high potential youth from refugee and host communities, in or out of school, as well as former child soldiers. Apart from physical and mental health improvements, THRH addresses on a fundamental level the range of emotional, cognitive, behavioral and social problems often experienced by the targeted youth.

Youth Anti-Violence and Peace Ambassadors Trainings:

Empowers selected youth with the wellbeing, confidence, values, skills and tools to become effective change agents preventing violence and extremism and building peace on their school campuses and in their communities.

Training in personal resilience, stress management, and professional self-care:

A short, effective training to prevent burn-out and improve stress management, personal resilience, wellbeing and performance capacity.

Training of Trainers:

An intense capacity building training to train local key teachers and frontline workers in the delivery of IAHV techniques for the psycho-social support of children.
